Cloud Four Again
At 4/19/2024
Cloud Four turns ten in October, and we have big changes to announce as we prepare for our second decade.
Over the years, people have had many misconceptions about Cloud Four. Some common ones are:
- We’re an award-winning luxury hotel.
- We’re experts on cloud computing.
The second one at least makes some sense.Footnote 1 With a name like Cloud Four, it should have been obvious to us that people would assume we were involved with cloud computing.
Instead, we named the company Cloud Four because it is often cloudy in Portland and there were four founders.
Oh, and the domain was available.
While Portland has remained cloudy, the number of founders involved in the company decreased over time. John left a few years ago to work on Lucid Meetings, and last year, Lyza simplified her life by moving to the woods of Vermont to raise sheep and make maple syrup.Footnote 2
Aileen and I were beginning to feel a bit lonely as the two remaining founders.
That’s why we’re pleased to announce that Megan Notarte and Tyler Sticka are now partners and part-owners of Cloud Four.
Megan was our first employee. She is the bedrock of our organization. She makes everything run smoothly and makes sure that everyone enjoys what they do. In many ways, she is the heart and soul of our organization. We missed her greatly during her brief hiatus.
Tyler has taken Cloud Four to new heights as our Creative Director. He has the rare combination of exceptional design skills and coding proficiency. He pushes all of us to do our best work. Perhaps most exciting for us, he is anxious to build a world-class design team and thrives on mentoring new designers.
For some time now, we’ve thought of Megan and Tyler as part of our core team. This feels like a long overdue recognition of that fact.
So as our company approaches ten, I’m pleased to say that we’re Cloud Four again.
I can’t wait to see what the next decade brings!
